does anyone know what the prognosis is for throat cancer? i looked up some information and found that there is poor prognosis but i'm hoping to hear otherwise.
someone dear to me has been diagnosed with it. he had it along with lung cancer a few years ago but now the throat cancer is back.
i was just wondering if having it a second time around means i shouldn't raise my hopes too high that we can beat it a second time.
thanks. |

tolypella,
I don't know a whole lot on Throat Cancer, but do know it seems not to be good. Whether because normally a secondary Cancer. Brainman- Jim , will be better at giving you more information.
There is also A Thread For Neck Cancer too, you might get better responses... I'll shadow this post for you into the neck as well, and see if we get the answers you need.
Always have your hopes high- attitude is what beats this thing _________________ Thinking of you Inica

tolypella, I am very sorry that your friend has cancer. I do not know much about throat cancer but here is a place for you to start:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/throat
If he has had lung cancer, the tumor in his throat might not actually be a throat cancer but a metastatic growth of his original lung cancer. This detail will make a significant difference in treatment options and prognosis. Metastatic cancers of often worse.
You and your friend are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

thanks for the replies! i wasn't expecting such heartfelt messages. i'm used to other forums where topics are not so emotionally significant.
i will definitely look up more information. in the meantime, i'll be as upbeat as possible.
it's all so strange. something like this is so unexpected and there's no script to follow.
thanks again! |

tolypella,
It's what had brought me to this Forum too. I had tried many- and found this the best- plus more like a family. But also the non-cancer bits- like jokes, games and fun - to take my mind of things.
The hardest thing is the emotions- up down, and all over the place- know we are always here. _________________ Thinking of you Inica
