Hello,
Brainman, here's another question of possible Lymphoma for you; sorry, but I must ask.
After my tonsillectomy, my right lymph node in my neck has expanded to about the size of the face of my thumb. Its hard as rock and it doesn't move. It also is completely painless; the only painless thing in my throat right now. I called my ENT and he put me on Azithromycin, which has had no effect so far. He decided on the antibiotics as I had already been taking a steroid for swelling.
I do have general fatigue; I nap all the time now, and I have never had a need for napping before. I used to run Cross Country and play soccer, but now I pathetically become exhausted after 9 holes of golf! I've lost a lot of weight for my build; I was 185 at the beginning of spring semester (January) and now I am 165. 15 pounds were lost before my tonsillectomy. I have exercised a little more since January but I was never a heavy person, so I'm not quite sure where the pounds are dropping from. As for night sweats I get those constantly. They are completely random but I get them probably once a week. Along with night sweats I get cold sweats sometimes during the day, but this happens much less often. Maybe I should keep tabs on that. I haven't had any serious fevers luckily. Also, I haven't noticed any other lymph nodes swelling.
What I hope you could tell me is how many instances you know of that people have had these symptoms but it turns out to be Lymphoma or something else. I'm still new at trying to understand what is going on and I am trying hard not to self-diagnose.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my situation!!

Kyle, I know so very little about NHL that I am afraid I can be of no help to you. All that I can advise you is to point out these symptoms to your own medical team for there assessment.
I am very sorry that you are having these health problems. You are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

I am so sorry to hear that you are experiencing these symptoms, and I hate to sound like a pessimist, but these symptoms describe nearly exactly what my dad was going through before he was diagnosed, as far as the night sweats, and swollen lymph nodes are concerned. He also had the same thing happen with his weight. The only difference is that he has his tumor between his liver and his pelvis in his abdomen. I would recommend that you see an oncologist if possible. Who knows, you might just be sick, but you also might be just fine.
Good luck,
you are in my thoughts,
please let us know what happens,
Thanks. _________________ Dad Has Burkitt's Lymphoma

Hi Kyle
It all sounds a bit suspect Kyle. It could just be a reaction to the infection of your tonsil's, I assume you must of had a severe infection to require getting them out at your age, so that is most likely what it is, but you must get to a doctor with it. The fact that you are having night sweats means you should do this fast! Once again your symptoms do tie up with your infected tonsils, but they could also be NHL.
Don't panic Kyle but do take yourself in to see a doctor as soon as possible.

So, my ENT doctor sent me to the hospital to get a biopsy on my lymph node. I should get the results back sometime early next week. Also, my nurse found a thyroid nodule while doing the ultra sound. I've been reading up on it but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Hopefully my doctor can bring some light to the situation next week.
Thanks! |
