| So long story short Ive been sick for about a month. Constant abdominal pain, fever, etc. They did a CT scan and found that my lymph nodes in my pelvic area are swollen to 23 mm. This summer I had the same pain and they were swollen to 11 mm. Lately all they have been doing is giving me pain killers. I have an appointment with a gastrologist (sp?) on Nov 29 but this is driving me crazy. For now Ive been on a high fiber diet. Any help would be appreciated. |

Tuesdayk, I was very sorry about your health concerns. Continue to work with your medical team to try to identify the cause of your symptoms. It sounds more like an infection than cancer. Or it could be a cancer with some kind of infection associated with it. Only your medical team can tell for sure. I am glad you already have an appointment to see a gastrologist. Try cutting back on the fiber and fats to see what happens.
Good luck. Keep us informed. _________________ Jim

Well what they did was put me on a high fiber diet and they took away my caffiene. . They're also telling me to cut back on the spicy foods.
But like I said before my medical team sucks. They basically have just been handing me pain killers and telling me to deal with it. Ive been in constant pain and they seem to be sort of pushing us away.
My mom is getting very frustrated and after reading this whole forum Im getting a little nervous because everyones story seems to be the same "took forever to diagnose...." and this is just driving me crazy. Ive already missed enough my junior year in HS I dont want to be held back. |

heather- stay positive, be strong and persistant.
You can be that- i know.
Try the diet, do what they ask- cause at least that will rule out certain things. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Tuesdayk
One of the best pieces of advice I got from my Oncologist (something I did not do before I ended up in ICU) was. “When something is wrong physically, don’t stop till you get a definite diagnosis and treatment is starting to work.” Till then keep hammering your doctors, get a new one, whatever it takes.

My suggestion would be to ask for a PET scan. Check other nodes in your neck, under arms, are you having night sweats (drenching?)? My daughter only had a cough and was fatigued and we thought she had a sinus infection. It was not until I kept taking her back to the doctor that they decided to do a chest x-ray and it showed a large mass in her chest pressing on her lung. That is when we finally got moving on a diagnosis, so not everyone has what they call the b symptoms. Have you looked up lymphoma (specifically Hodgkin's) to see what the symptoms are? Not to say this is what you have, but be persistant with your doctor because it may not be hodgkins or other lymphoma but it is not normal for you to have the pain and lymph nodes swollen. Best of luck.

Did you get any news from the gastronologist?
Are the night sweats regular or intermittent (come and go)?
Is the weight loss significant? (1lbs a week is concidered a significant amount of weight loss) and did the weight loss begin as a symptom first, or a symptom after you lost your appetite?
What kind of itching is it? Unbareable to the point you are scratching your skin bare? Itching deep within the skin?
Although your symptoms do point to lymphoma they also point to many many other diseases/infections. Your medical team shouldnt be brushing you off with medication when your presenting with these kind of symptoms. And i urge you to request some further testing, As your probably already aware you cannot diagnose lymphoma without a full biopsy of one of the nodes. I have no idea what process is taken in order to biopsy nodes in the abdomen but it would be something i would suggest talking about with your doctor.
I *presume* you have had blood tests? If not i would suggest getting some, There may some indications towards something in there. |

I totally forgot about this site and forgot my log in for awhile.
Anyway the pain continued and Friday I had my update CT scan after 6 months to see if the lymph nodes had grown. We should get my results on Monday. I still have all the symptoms and the pain.
My weight fluncuates and some days I barely eat anything. We did figure out I have an ulcer in my stomach but thats also a risk factor for NHL. They are finally starting to lean towards NHL and considering Leukemia since my aunt has that and is currently struggling to live with fungus attacking her brain. :/
I think there is a lymph node in my groin area that is swollen.
Who knows! Hopefully all is figured out. |

I havent had anyting except the colonoscopy before thanksgiving that showed bumps on my colon. They sent us to an oncologist and he decided to keep an eye on everything. _________________ Name: Heather
