OK- QUESTION.
To anyone who has ever had anything to do with little ones.
My son, who is 2 and nearlly a half. Has came home from care saying "shut up". "Shut up bell- dog" Shut up mummy" daddy etc.
We ignored it- thinking it's like it was a swear word and he'll forget it. (he has never swore or said anything like this before). He has kept saying it.
I was asking him to sit so i could put his t-shirt on. "NNNOOOO MUMMY- SHUT UP" them he kept saying it.
What should I do. React to it. (time out or smacks) or just ride it out, so he'll forget??? I have told him That i don't like him saying that to me, and it was not nice.

Haven't you ever heard of the "terrible two's"? Sounds like your son is in the middle of them.
I can't give a darn bit of advice because I've forgotten all my parenting of young children skills years ago! 
Good luck -- I will tell you, this too shall pass. (When they are about 25!) LOL

I'm frustrated all ready that I haven't heard that you have removed your son from the day care center. From your surprise, I take it you don't talk this way, there fore I assume he is hearing it a lot in the day care center. Little kids are like little recording tape player, they will repeat what is often said around them, that environment is your irresponsibility to control. I've been there too, and had to change day cares.
I have a neighbor in the adjoining duplex for the last 5 years and have had to listen to the mom screaming and cussing at her boy growing up (cussing here is always the F word), he is now noticeably disturbed and yells and cusses back to the parents with no real action taken, for me that action would at least be dealt with with a Bar of soap and if he got to like that I'd change brands. lol
I just feel your boy is a beautiful gift and I'd hate to have him in those surroundings, I wasn't a perfect parent and you may be better than me.
I hope the best for your situation.

He is a day care home situation. So he is at a home of a carer. they only have 5 children max. So i was really surprised. The carer is a phillapino women, very very classy- always speaks and dresses beautifully. She has her own daughter- school- age and she is beautiful too.
We had found out that it was school holidays and they was some school age children- two who were sisters and always saying "shut up to the other".
Now we have no problems- We spoke to the carer, she spoke to the other parents. and now the kids arn't there. no bad words.....
i say shit and damn etc now and then- so i know it's easy. but hunter has never said the "F" word.

Hi all
I had to slide into this conversation & let you know about my younger son - Lachlan (now 9). When he was much younger we got sick of threatening with a "bar of soap to clean his foul mouth". He loved eating soap & we would often find chunks bitten out of the soap in the bathtub, we even took a photo of a cake of soap for prospertiy. We will produce this photo for his 21st birthday & embarass him. I look forward to that.
My Husband & I don't use "blue" language around the kids but they hear it all at school (even in Grade 2 / 7 year olds!!). Private Roman Catholic school to boot!!!!
Last week when my boys (Husband & 2 sons) returned from a 5 day camp in the bush my 13 yr old walked in the house to greet me & instead of a big hug & kiss I got "Mum, I am so F------ tired"! I was so floored I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Kids they are so f------ funny!

That's the hard bit- when they say it out of the blue- you think OMG and laugh. hunter was playing on the floor building blocks. The tower fell down, and i hear "oh, damn". quitely. But i had to go to the kitchen and chuckle to myself. Lets just say, I'll be watching more now.
