I had a very large tumour removed November 2003.It was discovered to be Astrocytoma grade 2 .I have to have repeat MRIs every 6months because of high chance of reoccurence.Does this mean that I have had brain cancer or was it just tumour that could later turn into cancer? I had surgery only, no radiation.My neurosurgeon says it is very controversial whether to do radiation on grade 2s but he chose to not. Question

Hello

Astrocytoma is a type of brain tumor, as you know. The higher the grade the more aggressive it is. The highest grade is 4. So your is low-medium grade. This is a form of cancer, and there is a chance of recurrence, but it is very difficult to estimate how likely it is to recur.
