| I realize this is an older post, but I am wondering what kind of tests they have done on your son to diagnose his reflux. I was told that my son, Cameron, had reflux and he was put on medication which made his vomiting worse. It turns out that he did not have reflux but a condition known as pyloric stenosis. You can look this up, but the long and short of it is that the pyloris (muscle leading to the small intestine) grows too large for things to pass properly which results in chronic vomiting and constipation. He had surgery and has been fine since (he is six now). This affects males more than females and is very prevalent in first born males (don't know why). He was not a preemie, late actually. I mix miralax in his drinks 3 times a week to keep stools soft as constipation still is an issue for him from time to time, but this can also be associated with his being a very picky eater and not getting enough roughage. Is your son underweight? I got diagnosis very early on (he was 7 weeks and the youngest patient they had ever operated on) as I am one of those mom's that doesn't stop...especially when my child is suffering, but the nurses told me that many of these cases aren't diagnosed until the kids are much older. My two cents for the day...and something worth looking into!! |

Hi Sharon- that was a concern to begin with. but he is a healthy weight- due to his bottles. He was diagnosed with acid test and stool and lab work.
mainly he is on zantac and losec- that help a huge amount early on. Stopped vomiting and the "reflux" face. It also helped the bowel, by moving it quicker.
Then as he aged- or got bigger, even with following the dosage to weight etc, it caused him to still have pain, and easy vomiting and gag reflex.
The did blood work for seliac (s?) as well- and nothing showed.
He has now been off his meds for 4 weeks and the first 3 were hell- now a little better, not vomiting, and lest pain/screaming of a night. We even got a few nights this week, where he woke up after having 5-6 hours sleep straight- yay!.
*(you know something is terriably wrong if thats exciting) _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Ok- so other than catching everything from Hunter
UPDATE:
Everything is just peachy. Dr said that everything looks clear, she wants more invasive and expensive test done- but can't give a good reason.
I'm over it. waiting for the big black hole to grab me again. Why live you whole life waiting for it to come back- so no more, Unless I have a good reason, or feeling or something to make me want to.
Kisses to all for Pm's asking If I'm ok. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

I was on vacation and not checking in! I had stage 1 cervical cancer in 06 and adenomas (pre cancers) removed from my colon in 05 and wednesday (yes this past wed)... I am alive and kicking...follow up every 3 months on the cervical and so far so good...
I spent 1st 6 mos with oncologist having biopsies every 2 months then he referred me back to my OB/GYN...so far so good I think!! I have no cervix (think they call that oophorectomy) and my tubes were tied and my uterus burned via ablation! No kids in my future which is fine...I was done!! I am just not ready 4 hyster...God willing, everything is OK! |

Hi Inica
I find your story and courage truly inspirations. I have a history of cancer in my family but, touch wood, I haven’t had any personal encounters. I joined this website as my boyfriend's dad was diagnosed yesterday with lung cancer and I wanted to know what he and his family are going through. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and has 2 lumps in his lungs and 2 in his brain. We are unsure how to proceed or if there is any hope of getting treatment at this stage. From what I read up is doesn’t look too good but we will only know for sure on Monday.
Love,
Nal |

| I am really, really sorry to hear about your father in law. It is tough when the cancer is found too late. My grandma died of ovarian cancer two years ago...it was found at stage 4 and had gone to stomach, liver and lungs. I hope you get some better news, but if not, just know that you all just need to be there for him. Having us with her, especially in those final weeks, seemed to give my grandma so much comfort. It is tougher on us than them I think. At some point during the whole process, my gram became quite all right the the prospect of dying...actually to the point that she was looking forward to it...strange as that may sound. I, however, was never ok with it despite her acceptance. I will keep my fingers crossed that they determine he will be strong enough for treatment and you will be given more time with him. I will be praying for you! |

Nal-
Thanks for popping in - it makes me realise over and over how things have turned out for me, must have an angel on my shoulder.
I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriends father. I hope that things are better than you think- keep positive and be there for him- don't be surprise if he pushes you away a bit or even mood swings and mean at times- guys and their emotions.
Maybe start your own thread and see what others say about the information you have about his Father.
Feel free to pop in and say Hi-

Ok- been ages since I have had to write anything.
I'm 16 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second angel, and have been bleeding on and off, quite a lot and speratically. The ultrasound is looking good, baby healthy. Cervix via ultrasound externally, looks good. (well where cervix was).
They believe that it is not normal, that it's not hormones, and that it's not the cervix moving or stretching. Due to no leaking aminofluid. So now the dr has said that it doesn't look good, and that the cancer may be back- So smears done- even though they don't normally do while pregnant... and now waiting AGAIN!- it soooo sucks. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Hi all- Got my results.
Low grade C1. I am able to just watch and retest till baby is born, then treat after. I can have coloscopy etc, but there is a big risk to the baby- so i'm going to wait.
Just wanted to update you all. thanks xxx In _________________ Thinking of you Inica

OK, so An update....
Saw fetal medicine unit today, for an ultrasound, a cervix internal ultrasound and advice (still bleeding) - Im pregnant if you didn't already know... So I Waited an hour with a bladder about to burst, seriously I couldn't move for the fear or peeing myself!!! Had to wait a full hour after my due app. Time , I'm sure the do it on purpose
anyway finally get in and have the longest ultrasound ever. They did normal 2D, 3D and a little 4D. They measured and re measured the head and brain- freaked me out. But all in all a strong and healthy baby. Of course baby was not letting us see his/ her personal bits, so couldn't get any gender info.
Then Dr said how I was and bleeding etc, and then said- you HAVE to have a colopscopy....... So now I'm looking into getting in somewhere ASAP. Scared me to death, worried sick and all the other usual " don't do" advice I give everyone here So now I wait... Wait and see
Xxx night all _________________ Thinking of you Inica
