Okay, short outline - I had a half of my left lung removed in 2005 due to a synovial sarcoma and I was told it was clean margins etc. So two years further on it comes back, this time appearing in my brain (three tumours) and causing a couple of hemorrhages etc. Full recovery from them, one tumour was cut out in October 2007 (last year) but the other two were too deep for surgery.
Cue 10 doses of straight head radiotherapy, and I just had my follow up this Friday (March 14th) and the radiologist said I was clear, no spread and *this is the bit I don't think I was paying attention properly* he either said the the two tumours had gone completely from my brain or had shown favourable reaction to the radio and shrunk fairly well.
My wife and I were so euphoric at him saying it hadn't spread, we'd sort of turned off at the interesting bit where he mentioned what happened to the two left in my head!
My question is, I thought secondaries like mine were a killer (indeed I was given until the summer this year) and that they couldn't be gotten rid of - I am obviously going to contact the hospital again on Monday for clarification but is it possible the secondaries may have reacted *really* well to the radiotherapy and just gone?
I'm not at all thinking that I am "fixed/cured" etc I'd just like to know if I am clear (for now).. the Doc was really happy, booked my next follow-up in four months, grinned and shook my hand _________________ Ongoing blog: http://www.riddlermarc.co.uk |

riddlermarc, it does sound like you received good news! Obviously, neither of us knows what exactly the doctor meant. Nevertheless, if something significant had remained, I am sure your doctor would have offered more suggestions or recommended other treatment options.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

| Hi Riddlermarc, you have already had a long journey with this dreaded diesease, but I think the same as Brainman it looks like good news! If there was something needed to be looked at he would of looked for an earlier appointment and not looked so happy. I hope you will let us know when you speak to him on Monday? God Bless I will pray for you. |

Four months after my last appointment I had my next check-up last Friday, and the results were the same as the prevoius report - nothing new, nothing changed so they want to see me in another four months.
I kind of guess this goes to prove that, upon the recepit of bad news, don't give up hope because miracles DO happen _________________ Ongoing blog: http://www.riddlermarc.co.uk |

Marc, you are indeed a survivor. That is wonderful news. Miracles do happen, every day.
It is really nice to see positive news when it comes ot this dreaded disease. Positive results like yours shows others that it happens and never, ever, give up hope. |
