Hello,
My Husband and I relocated To Palo Alto California last week. My Husband was sheduduled to be admitted into Stanford Hospital Saturday 5/6/05 for a Stem Cell Transplant. While doing the pre op testing, he had an MRI done which was needed for his radiation treatments. They found swelling around his pericardium (heart?). Now the doctor wants to post poned the transplant for two months while my husband gets a treatment called CHOP. Does anyone have any info on what CHOP is?
Thank You |

Hello
CHOP is a classic chemotherapy regimen that is composed of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicine, vincristine, prednisone. It is usually given for patients with aggressive lymphoma. Is that what he has ?

Hello
Well, sometimes the CLL can progress to a high-grade lymphoma, in which case probably CHOP could be a regimen to think about. I hope this is not the case.
best regards,

Leo,
What do you mean 'high-grade lymphoma'?

Hello
High-grade lymphoma is a group of lymphomas that is quite aggressive. Usually in the unusual event of CLL progressing to lymphoma, this is usually the type. Like I said, CLL progressing to lymphoma is unusual.
best regards,
