hi Im sheila and the topic would be my moms colon cancer matastisiized to ovary to liver long story since april 06-she had two miracles so far and do we dare ask for a third(because I believe that is what its going to take)
she saw her oncologist yesterday and the blood work showed abnornal cells and the scan spotted something (a definate growth) on the liver.she had a P.E.T scan this morning entire body(scares me to find out how much it will show) we will get the results Monday. then she more than likely will be reffered to a liver specialist at another hospital and surgery is inevitable-alot also to do with the fact he said it was in a very difficult place to biopsy. I am hurting so bad for her (and selfishly hurting some for myself) she is such a strong person but Im seaching to try and give her something positive because thats all she will allow me to tell her-Im still searching shes running out of options ( 1st she almost died on the operating table in the first emergency surgery which she had to have a colostomy now irrreversable chemo pills lmost killed her half way through, un able to do the port her body rejected it again almost.. had a second surgery for the ovary..,been through radiation and now this shows up Im the eldest of 3 two younger brothers - Im still searching the site and many others- I need to face facts now.thanx all who listened that felt better

Hi Sheila. I copied your post to the colon cancer forum because that is really what your mother is dealing with. I am very sorry about your mother's cancer. I am not sure how colon cancer is staged but since it has already metastasized to the liver it is at least a stage III if not a stage IV.

Your mother's inner strength will work in her favor. She will need to draw on it a lot during the following months. There will be times that she will need to depend on you and others for strength so make sure your own support group is good and in place to help you through these times.

You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Sheila

First of all I am so sorry you are going thru this, Cancer is an evil thing to deal with Crying or Very sad

My father was diagnosed with a tumor on November 2007, he refused Chemo or any other treatment, May 2008 the tumor ha compromised the liver and by July 2008 he died (just 8 days ago). But your mother is getting treatment which will probably increase her life expectancy. In the case of my father he got no treatment at all, we are still unsure if my father's tumor started at the liver, at the bile ducts or at the duodenum as when he was operated in Nov. 2007 they just found the big mass and it was already too spread.

Sending all my prayers to you and your mom...she is sure a trooper!

Thank you every little prayer and good thought helps (I truly believe that) Im sorry for your loss-how painfully sad this can all be...
We are to get the full results of the scan tomorrow morning-moms petrified and to be honest Im just shutting down on my thoughts or feelings outwardly for now so I can function better more for mom and my younger brothers-we keep a fairly cheerfull front for mom-unless shes having a serios moment then we all express our concerns-but for the most part we are enjoying each others company and holding onto to the good moments as long as we can. she still..God bless her) insists on us comming to her home every sunday for dinner. she know I would take over in a heartbeat if she wasnt up to it. Our family is extremely close and its our love that holds us together(I always hear my grandmas words(my moms mom)"-you be a strong calabrese.(she was Italian obviously) you keepa the faith and saya the prayer and dont you cry for the deceased they are not sad or hurting." thanx again
