Hi everyone.
My mother (stage 4 metastatic lung cancer) has recently developed a strange rash all over her body. It started on her torso and has now spread to arms, legs, back. The rash is not bothering her at all. No itching or burning or swelling. Since it is not bothering her, she will not let me take her to Dr. untill Friday as we have an appt. then. I tried to call the Dr. yesterday but he was out of town. Should I be very concerned?

She has finished radiation 2 weeks ago, is still on Temodar for her brain mets, and is also on anti-seizure meds and an antibiotic called Bactrim. I am concerned that it is the Bactrim that is possibly causing the rash although, she has been taking Bactrim for 2 months with no problems thus far. I will be calling the Dr. again today about this but wondered if anyone had an answer for me for now.
Thanks for your time and replies!
Lucy

Lucy

I think you should take her to the Dr. You're right that meds can cause a rash, but that is usually itchy. And she is undergoing treatment for her cancer, which could cause her platelets to fall, and low platelets also can cause a rash. So convince her to go to the Dr. !

regards,
Leo
