My father-in-law is in stage four of prostate cancer. The cancer has metastasized to his left leg and hip - he is on a walker and in a good bit of pain. He is taking infusion therapy to stablize and hopefully strengthen the bone and prevent calcium poisoning of his blood. He is 93.

What can we do (as his primary family caregivers) to help him through this - what should we expect? I cannot find anything definitive on other treatments, since he has already had what he considers "the gamet." I want to be helpful, but I am clueless. What is next for him?

Is he on hormone therapy? There are some supplements that are farily effective, as long as you don't wait too long. I am not a dealer, so don't worry, I'm not going to sell you something. I take about 20 supplements, so if you're interested, I can email it to you. They're all natural, except for Lipitor.

He has taken hormone therapy in the recent past, radiation as well previously. He is currently taking fish oil capsules to control is cholesterol and it works well for him. He is taking darvaset for pain. He works out (personal trainer) three times a week, so his regimen is helping him. Thanks for asking.

Hello

My impression is that the best thing you can do to help him is make sure he is well nourished and that he is as active as possible. When someone gets confined to bed or wheelchair things get a lot worse and more complications arise: infections, sores, pneumonias, etc.

best regards,
Leo
