I’m trying to find information about melanoma or other skin cancer which start like age spot or blemish; all the information I see refers to moles or mole like lesions.

I wanted to ask about a large sun damaged area which looks like an age spot or blemish which I’ve had 10 years or more, it’s on my forehead it’s light brown and is now about an inch in diameter. One day in June I noticed about 10 small ‘pin prick’ blood spots spaced like several scratches; it looks like they scabbed and completely disappeared within a week. Afterwards I took a picture to the doctor who checked the age spot/blemish and said not to worry. I could not see a distinct change in colour, or raised area so I was greatly relieved.

Two months later in August this year the same thing happened again this time slightly different area and 5 ‘pin prick’ blood spots, several looked like a scratch as before which again scabbed and disappeared after a week. The age spot/blemish is in a horrible position next to my eyes and nose and it’s been there many years and has horrible implications for the future.

I’ve an appointment at my doctor again but has anyone information about this, can the blemish be cancerous and is this how it starts. I’ve tried to link to several pictures which is the only way to fully show the problem I have.

I am far from any kind of a pro, but try looking at this website:

ABCD's are always good but very basic evaluations.
