Hi
I've just had an update on my biopsy. I have got kidney cancer which has spread to my lymph nodes. Although initially after my CT scan the doc said my bowel and lymph nodes, he only said lymph nodes today. I've gotta go see him on Thursday for a surgery date and to discuss it more. I've just read on the net that Stage 3 kidney cancer is where it has spread to the lymph nodes and stage 4, the bowel. I feel like I haven't got a chance and I feel so numb. Although the doc said it is rare for someone as young as me to have it - I'm 35.
I know I've got to fight this but I feel so numb and so lost, I don't know what to do and I'm so scared. I need some help, please someone talk to me

Lisah,
Everyone is different how they cope with the diagnosis, all I can do is offer info from my own experience of a dx of rcc. I told myself to stay strong that somehow I will get through this, I listened to my doctor, I tried to stay busy as to not let it consume me, I kept working and going to school until surgery and prayed, prayed, prayed to God. It's funny how we all get so wrapped up in our lifes and ourselves and forget to pray until something like this happens.
Of course I had days where the cancer was on my mind and I let out my emotions, that is normal and healthy to let those out. But I would not let it consume me.
Good luck to you and prayers for you also |

Mine was renal cell cancer stage 1, it was encapsulated in my left kidney. the treatment offered was a partial or a complete nephrectomy. I chose the complete, I did not want a chance to leave anything behind. this was 3 yrs ago.
Yours being that it went to the lymph nodes is more serious, but there are treatments. follow your doctors instructions. I got 3 opinions before I decided what to do and which doctor I wanted to use i chose a very good urologist who did an exellent job.
As far as getting through this do some things you always wanted to do. also keep yourself busy as to not think so much. and vent when you need to.
i am doing fine now, thank you for asking. i do have a cyst on my remaining kidney on my last CT scan, they want to watch it. I really need to go again for CT but I have no insurance at this time.
Hope all goes well with you.
P.S. Don't ever give up there are many good doctors and treatments. |
