Hello, I noticed a enlarged lymph node in my neck about four months ago. I had it checked last week and the doctor was concerned about Hodgkins and sent me for a blood test. She only checked the lymph nodes in my neck. She said that the office would call if there was any problems. Well I haven't heard back so I am assuming the results are normal. Is a blood test enough to rule out Hodgkins, and should I be worried any more about the lymph node? Are there any other tests I should ask to be done, or am I safe to assume that everything is alright. She never mentioned whether or not to come back to the office for further checkup.

Thanks for your input

Lynn - a suggestion - don't wait for the doctor to call you.
Call them and ask for your results. Ask if a biopsy is warranted, or x-rays, cat scans, pet scans, MRI, whatever!
Ask what other symptoms might be - or tell your doctor about unusual conditions.
I had Hodgkins - I didn't have any of the usual symptoms, but I had a tumor in my chest the size of a large orange/small grapefruit, enlarged lymph nodes on both sides of my neck, and I was itchy. My back was always itchy, and I scratched my shins until they bled.
The doctors scratched their heads about that one. They also were dumbfounded why I didn't have trouble breathing because the tumor was pushing against my lungs.
So, as you see, symptoms can be out of the ordinary.

Waiting for results is very hard. It'll be easier on you if you contact the doctors and then find out it was just a cyst or something than it is to wait too long which would extend the timing of any further tests or treatments.

Take care
