When melanoma metastasizes to bone or other organs from skin surface, is the surface lesion larger than a centimeter or can a tiny millimeter of a mole cause this malignant spread of cancer?

Depth is more of a determining factor than size of the mole.

In my experience, after my first melanoma was discovered, the doctor checked every new mole. I teased him that I was going to buy him a melon-baller to make it easier LOL.

Some of these new moles were the size of the tip of a pencil, (1-2 mm) but obviously caused enough of a concern for the doc to remove them for testing.

I hope all works out well for you.

Thank you for your reply. I think I understand better now. It has been 14 days since the biopsy so I guess I can conclude that the mole was benign or of lesser importance than melanoma. The doctors office said they would get back to me in 14-21 days no matter what the report.
