My mom who turned 63 last October died on December 6, 2008. She was diagnosed with type II diabetes about four years ago. Pills and diet changes helped for awhile but about a year and a half ago she had to switch to injections. Early in the fall she started having some complications from the diabetes. A lot of pressure in her eyes and some vision loss. She also started having some depression. (Now I know it's related to the PC.) In early November she started having visions. She would see flashes of light, children playing and bicyclists. Her eye doctor told her she had Charles Bonnet Syndrome. On November 10, she had a series of mini strokes. We took her to the "stroke " hospital and they ran the usual heart tests. Everything came back normal. She was in the hospital for 6 days. They let her go home even though her white blood cell count was very high. Put her on cumadin and antibiotics, they thought she had a urinary tract infection. She felt okay the first week but, Thanksgiving week she became extremely tired and was in a lot of pain. We thought itwas her arthritis because she couldn't take her anti inflamitories. On Nov. 29, she fell in the bathroom paralyzed on her left side. Back to the stroke hospital, another stroke affected her speech. Doctors ran all the tests again. Normal. Heparin and more strokes. By Monday morning my mother was in a coma. Tuesday, neurologists and cardiologist back and forth. Full body CT scan stage IV pancreactic cancer mest. to liver and lungs. They couldn't do radiation or chemo in her state. She never knew she had terminal pancreatic cancer. We moved her to Hospice on Friday. Judith Minsterman, my beloved mother and best friend died on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 4:52 pm. The grief my family is going through is almost unbearable. My father, brother, and my family are still in shock. 26 days. Has anyone ever heard of pc causing strokes? I 've read the liver plays a role in regulating clots. The cancer was in her liver.

Oh missingmom, I am so sorry about your mother's death. She went so fast!! My mother died of primary brain cancer 2 months after her diagnosis. I know the shock my family felt so I can certainly imagine your pain at this time.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Missingmom,

I'm so sorry to read of you Mom's passing. My Mum declined so rapidly and she died only weeks after diagnosis also.

It took me a long time to get over her death and even now I still cry from time to time. The pain does get easier and eventually you will be able to reflect and enjoy the happy memories.

You and your family are in my thoughts.
