Hi: I have not posted for awhile. My husband was diagnosed in July.08 . Has had 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. His 6 week checkup and Ct scan showed that his tumor was not discernible. Hurray!!! But ,He is still as sick as ever. Sleeping ++++pain continuing. Very weak. His treatment was finished at the end of November .Why is he still sick? Has other issues--diffculty urinating and fluid in legs and feet. Taryntige

taryntige, I am sorry that your husband's health has not improved. Unfortunately, Pancreatic Cancer is one of the worse cancers a person can have because of its devastating impact on quality of life and because treatment is often unsuccessful with only short term benefits. Although I have heard of a few people who survived 2+ years, they are few and far between.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi, my name is Christine and my dad was diagnosed at the beginning of Dec. I am so happy that your husband's chemo/rad. is working. I am sorry that he is in pain and I will pray that he is feeling better soon so everything he has been through will be worth it.

Did your husband have any metastasis or was it just in his pancreas? Did he start with chemo and rad. together or was it just the Gemzar at first. Do you have any advice for someone just starting out with all this? Did your husband change his diet or supplement with any vitamins, etc. Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate your help for a family that just isn't sure what to do right now.

Hello: My husband was on a pump 24/7 for his chemo amd he was lucky(?) and had no side effects until the last week . His pain has never been in good control and the oncologist keeps raising the dosage. He has no mets which is another good thing. His radiation was 5 days a week and he did well with that. Sleeps a lot. I keep hoping that he will improve but every morning is the same. I wish that I could help more. Taryntige

ethan20, has Ron started chemo yet? I was diagnosed 12/29 and am still looking at clinical trials, but am nervous about waiting much longer. Since my tumor is in the body of the pancreas, I have no symptoms other than occasional mild abdominal pain. Thanks, Floyd

Hi Floyd, my dad (Ron) had three Gemzar sessions. This is his week off. He also started the Tarceva. He is getting mild off balance side effects from it. He gets full quick and takes longer to digest. They suggest six smaller meals instead of three. Plenty of water. He was diagnosed at the beginning of December. It took a little while for him to get his first chemo appt. which was Dec. 30th. We asked about clinical trials but were told they try that after the conventional gemzar decides not to work. What did they suggest for you. I know how you feel waiting to get started, very scary. Let me know what you decide to do.
