I have posted two comments in hope that someone would of responded. It did not happen. Dad is in his last days of life. It's been officially 4 1/2 weeks since diagnosis. He is at home in hospice care, and I have never thought It could get so awful as this. We have had issues with breakthru pain. my family has had severe tension thru this all and exchanged words I think we all wish we could take back. and Dad has expressed "he wishes It was just over". I thought this forum was to promote comunication for people going thru the same thing. my Dad is dying It's been almost 5 weeks, this is pancratic cancer. i hope at some point for the next person someone will choose to respond back.

Dear Yvonne,

I apologize for not answering earlier. If I understand correctly the biggest problem is pain and constipation, right ? These problems can be very difficult to deal with, especially when larger doses of narcotics have to be used. For pain, there are many different formulations of narcotics tha can be used, including patches, pills, solutions, and of course IV formulations. Oncologists are very familiar with these medications and should be able to help him out. Regarding constipation, it is a common side-effect of narcotic use. There are also many different treatments: increase fiber, laxatives, and if not enough enemas. The hospice staff are very familiar with this care and should be able to make him more comfortable.

best regards,
Leo
