Oh, I definitely remember the Bugs Bunny one with Wagner. Hmmm... maybe that's why I like classical music. (I don't know a darn thing about it, but like it.) _________________ Husband diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IV. (Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer) Fought & lived 2 1/2 years with multiple lines of treatment.

Okay -- now that you bring that topic up -- WHY are we suddenly considered OLD??? I don't think of someone in their early 50's as being old -- neither do I find the 60's as being OLD. So what's the deal here? I keep feeling marginalized lately. I'm not sure that because I'm suddenly 'HERE' is the reason either. Don't recall thinking that way about my parents.
Ahhhhh --- Brainman, you are quite right. Like I said to mcw, maybe that's why I do have a fondness for classical music. I'm trying to think if anything our kid's generation saw on TV had classical music woven into it. Heck, I can't remember diddly anymore. Hmmm... maybe I AM old! _________________ Husband diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IV. (Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer) Fought & lived 2 1/2 years with multiple lines of treatment.

AGREAT subject!! WB had to be the best! 'Semitie Sam, Bugs, and :
the elephant " Oh, Yo hoooo- Mr. Aaaaaarab!" and the elephant beats the mechanical mouse to death with Sam " I hates that rabbit..."
or on the ocean "Oh, Mr Piiiiiiiraaaate!" The lit match with a hold full on TNT- "If you do that one more time, I 'm not a gonna go get it" BOOM
Bugs and Daffy: "You're disthpicable "
Love it!
Love the OLD Scooby Doos; Johnny Quest
Classical- I 'see' the Bugs verses the opera singer: "of course you know, this means war!" and then : "Leopold!"
Have a hard time appreciating the new, computer generated, hectic energy cartoons of today. I hear alot of accepted callousness and humor at someones inner personal expense. I know the old ones are voilent- cyote and the road runner - and walks a racial line at times- the REALLY old WB ones- but the tone has changed...
or a sign of my age.
Great topic! Love it! _________________ Kathy: still loving Ben, as he rests with God. |

Well, ummm... gee thanks Chemoman! LOL -- 50 is the new 50! Can't wait for my kids to be considered old at 40. That'll teach those young whipper-snappers.
How many of you watch current cartoons? My husband and I were die-hard Simpson's fans until about 3-4 years ago when it jumped the shark. Also love Family Guy, which is definitely not a kids cartoon. The Simpson's reminds me of Rocky & Bullwinkle in that there is humor in it for kids and adult humor that flies over kid's heads.

hi
There was this canadian cartoon called tripping the rift.It was not suitable for kids, in fact most adults would have found it offensive, but it cracked me up. It had a sci fi theme and that always gets my attention. family guy is good but its on too late for this old codger drawn together has its moments and south park is good for a laugh but I am not an avid fan of either of them.
I still prefer the old looney toons cartoons. I suppose it whats you have been brought up on that sticks with you.

Hi
Ive been thinking about this and have come up with a list of old cartoons lets see if anyone here can remember them.
Popeye, Spinach munching legend
Mr Magoo, near sighted bumbler
Woody woodpecker, crazy bird with manic laugh
The Flintstones, fred, wilma, barney and betty
Top Cat, The indesputible leader of the gang
Bat Fink, his wings are like a shield of steel
Yogi bear , with his side kick BooBoo
Snagglepuss, exit stage right
Mighty Mouse, super mouse extraordinaire
Peabody's improbable history, with his wayback machine and side kick Sherman
Roger Ramjet, the hero of our nation
The Herculoids, super family with weird alien pets
Tobor the 8th man, robot human super hero
Gigantor popular Japanese cartoon, a huge robot controlled by a kid.
Kimba the White Lion, shamelessly ripped of by Disney in the lion king, from japan and one of my favourites
Johnny Quest, sci fi cartoon
Astro Boy popular Japanese manga style cartoon
That's all I can think of at the moment. All these cartoons I used to watch. Not all were my favourites, some I used to watch because my brothers and sister were fans. Ahh the memories
Ah the memories _________________ Age 53

Ben and I both had Gumby toys- He was lucky enough to have the one that was 2 feet tall(sigh) And NONE of them would stand up after being bent once!!
How about Johnny Quest flashing ring and other Quest toys?? Ben and I still look for the old Johnny Quest , and the OLD scooby doos on Boomerang all the time.
We still can't imagine why anyone would want to make a cartoon about a society of little blue smurfs- only 1 papa smurf, and only 1 girl??
AH, the old days............ _________________ Kathy: still loving Ben, as he rests with God. |
