Hi,
I am going tomorrow to have a BCC removed from my back. It is being done by my general M.D. Don't know if this is the norm, but he said it was such a minor thing he could do it.

I am a outdoor person and am very active. My main interest being bicycle racing. I am never in the sun without a shirt but do get a lot of sun. I don't know how I could have got BCC on my back but I did. Anyway, my question is it safe to use sun block and still spend time in the sun? I could cut down on sun exposure (hours and time of day) but I cannot avoid 3-4 hours on the weekends. Or do I need to say c-ya to any interest that does not have a roof over my head. It would be very tough to just sit and watch tv all weekend. Not to mention to lose the fitness that I have worked years to gain. Yes I know I could, and do workout in a gym but without any reason to stay fit I know my motivation would suffer. I am being honest.

Or am I just complaining and should consider myself lucky it is only BCC? I would hate to give up a active lifestyle, but I would hate to die even more. I guess I could learn to watch re-runs of cops and eat bon-bons Confused

Family history: My Mom has had skin cancer removed a few times in the last 20 yrs. she is 72yrs. And has smoked like a chimney since she was about 13. My half (same mom) sister died 2 yrs ago of colin cancer she
was 50, about 10yrs older than me.

Thanks,
Travis

Travis

I would think if you limit the sun exposure by using hats and using a good sun blocker you should do well.

best regards,
Leo

Sunscreens are meant for regular use for people with lots of outdoor activities. More so for you as you have a sensitive skin. Use a sunscreen regularly with spf 20 and above.
