My SIL had a seizere the other night and rushed to hospital in Syracuse,NY Diag. Glioma right temporal lobe between eye and ear.

Dr said cannot operate due to location and possible stroke, gave her 1 yr IF she did nothing longer with Radiation.

They do not know if its Cancer and DR said doesn't matter. She asked me what she should do... I told her what I would do is leave Syracuse go to Memorila Solan Kettering and get a 2nd opinion.

They are telling her this is a death sentenance I say ask MSK they have probably seen many more of these than Syracuse.

Any deas or thoughts or hope...

I am truly sorry about your SIL. I do have some suggestions:
  • Go to Sloan-Kettering for a second opinion. They are the second best cancer center in the US.
  • Insist on a biopsy to make sure that it is cancer and not a non cancerous tumor.

As I so often tell people, a prognosis is just a statistical estimate. I like to know my prognosis but only in order to set my priorities for the things that I still would realistically like to do with whatever time I have left. Then, to whatever degree possible, I just try to set aside the prognosis and live one day at a time working towards those goals.

You and your SIL are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks thats what I thought too. I feel bad for her as she helps everyone and did alot for my Father-in Law 25 yrs ago when he had a brain tumor, he died in 6 months after surgery. It was not pleasent.

This is part of the reason she is tempted to do nothing and die in a year, I think " hey what if Syracuse is wrong " Thanks for your insite. Between "Deb" and my paranoia of my on again off again headaches we have alot on the plate now
