I opened a Twitter account for account called thecancerforums. If you use Twitter, visit us there. If you do not know what Twitter is, it is a place to post very short messages... 160 characters... I will try to post short messages about cancer subject there. I also invite you to post brief messages. For example "I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow" or "My tests results will be available in 2 days." More extensive messages and questions should still be posted on the CancerForums.net site.
Go to http://twitter.com/home and join. After joining, do a search for thecancerforums and add us to your "following" list. _________________ Jim

Just a little more about Twitter. It does not work exactly as I thought it would. Only the person who registers the page can directly post to it. You can reply to things that are posted on thecarncerforums but not post your own messages. You will have to create your own homepage anyhow so you can post your messages there. I will add you to thecancerforums. "following" list.
I will only use thecancerforums twitter page to post general information about cancers. I have my own personal twitter page where I will add twitters about myself. _________________ Jim

The informal "standard" for creating a group in Twitter is to use hashtags.
{link deleted by admin. You cannot use links until you have been a member for at least one month AND posted at least 10 significant messages}
You can then add #cancer or #cancerforum or whatever to simulate a group.
Twitter clients such as TweetDeck let you have a permanent search sort of thing that also act as a group.

A client-free way would be to use TweetGrid...

[Aside: Why does this forum have BBCode off, and HTML on (but a little odd, at least to me)?] |

[quote="brainman"]Thanks dcs.
We have all the bbCodes and most of the html codes off because of a history of abuse by spammers. Unfortunately, we cannot just turn of some of the bbCodes... it is an all or nothing situation. The html codes that are allowed are listed at:

[/quote]Danke.
In my experience, I thought HTML was more prone to abuse than bbCode. Another aside, spammer trends change over time, so maybe bbCodes are not abused as much anymore? Trial test? You'd at least get quote tags. </aside> |
