Hello everyone.
Has anyone here ever used selenium as an alternative for lung cancer?
I have read on some sites that it has worked for lung and prostrate, I believe, in preventing the growth of second primary tumors. (I am not really positive what that means)...second primary?????
Second question I have is for myself, who is shaking and rattling inside knowing I will be having a left upper lobe out in about two weeks and I would like someone to write to me and let me know how it feels when you wake up and are missing a part of your lung? Do you feel its not there? Do you feel like you can't inhale enough air? What is it like....?
And lastly, what is the difference between a resection and taking a lobe out or are they the same thing.
I mean, are there times they dont take the whole lobe, say if you have only one small spot of cancer, and nothing else. Do they remove only that small cancer and some surrounding lung tissue , like they do with breast cancer ...a lumpectomy?
Thank you everyone

Having a lobe taken out is a walk through the park. I met a 80-year-old lady who had it done and was up and about the next day cracking jokes and having a ball. You?ll be up and around in a day or less. I asked the doctor if I could go golfing and he said, ?Don?t expect a good score? I went golfing 6 days after the operation.
Sometimes I think I can feel fluid in the space that was left. Like when I take a golf swing and as I?m watching the ball it feels like the fluid in there is spinning? Kinda weird. I?ll bet it would smell real good too? I think the doctor might of left his golf ball in there. I heard he used a 9-iron to remove the lobe.
Let the doctor take out as much as they think they need too and don?t worry. It's just like that song, When I was just a little rodbuster I asked the forman what will I be, what ever will be will be, or something like that.

Max, you little devil you, you're always good for a chuckle!
Let me tell you how MY day went today.
Was scheduled for catscan lungs at 3pm
Bone Scan at 6pm
Both with contrast!
So with all the little uglies running around my body, after the cat scan was done at 4pm, they told me to go out eat and drink lots and lots of water in preperation for bone scan.
Left hospital, turned right and two blocks down stopped for red light, with 5 cars in front of me, and behold!some idiot woman plowed into the rear of my car. I was thrown forward banged my head and got one heck of neck jerking. I have a headache. Semi blacked out for about 15 seconds and came to just as my car was plowing into the one in front of me.
Ambulance came (why not) actually they passed by the accident on their way back to the hospital and wanted to take me to the ER!
Had to sign a release cause I wouldnt let them take me to the ER,
This whole thing took 2 hours. Just in time to turn around and go back to hospital foro the bone scan.!
Oh well, I didnt have to worry about the tests ....God had a more pressing agenda for me!
Tomorrow, off to the ER.
Goodnite.

Sorry to hear about your car but you're right about God having different plans. I'll bet he saved you from choking on a ham sandwich. I was helping build the Grand Hotel at Disneyland?s California Adventure back in 99? and the crane operator dropped 2 4x4?s right on my head. I was so dizzy when I came too that I would have staggered right off the 4th floor it they didn?t stop me from doing so. I remember them strapping me in a man basket and flying me off the building to a waiting ambulance. I didn?t want to go. Everyone kept congratulating me on how stout I am. It wasn?t stout or luck it just wasn?t my time, praise God.
Stay alert, drive fast, don't get hurt, haul ass....
