Well my husband has had the prostate checkup and colonoscopy. Both checked out fine. He is scheduled for a PSA bood test as well. This information eases our mind somewhat but are still concerned obviously due the the multitude of the nodules.

I am very sorry for that some of you are having to go through this same worry and even more concerned for those of you who have had bad news on your Pet scans. Since my husbands nodules are all under 1 cm and histoplasmosis sometimes also lights up a PET scan they are saying it would be to inconclusive at this time. He has an annoying cough which I think is from a recent back surgery. They had do the surgery through his neck, and I think it affected his throat, so he is coughing to clear his throat a lot. It is rather unnerving though since we also know about these nodules.

Hello

PET scan stands for Positron Emission Tomography. It is not a CT scan. It picks up radiation from a drug injected through your veins. Like I said before, a PET scan may be useful in some cases, but it will not be able to reliably say whether it is cancerous or infectious.

best regards,
Leo

It has been a wild last couple of days.
In the end the scan was perfect! YIPEE YIPEE YIPEE!!!
Thanks for all these wonderful people I've met on the boards who have been so helpful and so caring for me.
I had the scan done on Thurs. along with another cat scan of chest (last one was 2-1/2 mos. ago)
After the cat scan, I left the hospital at 4pm and had to return at 6pm for the bone scan. Thurs. was a deluge in upstate NY. It literrally pourrrrrrrred! I was two blocks from the hospital parked at a red light with five or so cars in front of me, when I was rearended! I mean really hard, I semi blaked out for about 8 seconds, and at that point when I came too, I was plowing into the car in front of me.
So.............. altho, I was told to go eat, and urinate several times before the bone scan at 6pm, I never did get to do it. I barely had time to turn the car around and go back to the hospital
I tell ya,.........if it werent for bad luck............
Anyway, I tried all day Friday to get the info on the tests from m y chest surgeon and he said he didn't have it. So I was a nervous nellie all weekend and just prayed.
Yesterday I got the good news.
The lesion hasnt grown any either in the last few months.
So he wants to operate July 7th.
Under general anesthesia, do a bronchoscopy and take some lymph nodes from the center, then a wedge biopsy of the lesion. And if it is cancerous, he will take the entire upper lobe. Gosh Im scared. I feel like running somewhere and not coming back.
Funny, I've always had a real strong urge toward the "flight" part of "fight or flight decision tree!
Thank you for being here for me. Will talk to you soon!
luv Joyce

I am glad to hear that you had good news, and sorry you had to spend the weekend on pins and needles. Also what a bummer about your accident experience, but those things as you well know are fixable and fairly minor compared to life's other problems. Continue to be Strong and Positive!! Still keeping you in my prayers!!

and prayers ngering and bulldog. I am getting very VERY nervous about operation scheduled for 7/7. I believe that if I keep thinking about it, I'm going to rescheduled it. Its so close and I feel so unready and scared and shaking.
I'm going away for four days and will be back next Tues. nite. Hopefully that will keep me my mind off of it.
Thank you all
Joyce

Joyce from Upstate NY here!
I've returned from four days with my son in the sun on the ocean and had a nice time.
I should have stayed there! I am shaking and doing the heebie jeebies here. Oh so scared.
I want to know what is happening with all of you. I dont want to loose any of you on this board.
Please write me and let me know how you are all doing. I will be home this weekend, mostly every day and need to keep myself veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyyy busy. If not, I just might take a plane to honolulu and never come back for any operation. hehehe.
Hugs and prayers to all
Joyce

Joyce,
You can do this Joyce! Be strong and positive for your sons sake. I am glad you had a nice break at the ocean. It is always good to be outdoors in the sunshine when your worried about anything. My husband has developed a horrible cough and we really don't know what is causeing it for sure. He had a vertabrae taken out of his neck in April and they went through the front of his neck for the surgery. So it may be scar tissue, and his doctors are also saying maybe heartburn is causing it. I don't believe it is heartburn because he developed it slowly over time and now it is just a constant problem for him. Reminds me more of an asthma attack than of heartburn coughing. Plus when he lays down it gets better. Everything I read about Heartburn says it gets worse when you lay down. Soo He is getting a Cat Scan of his neck on Tuesday and maybe that will tell us something. Meanwhile they don't think it is neccessarily related to the 11 small lung nodules, but they really don't know either way. Most likely they are not cancer, but having a constant cough that makes his chest ache is of course adding to his fears about those indeterminate nodules. So I will definitely be thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers. Try to do something you enjoy this weekend.
