I have a question..
Not sure where to start there seems to be sooooooo much involved.. A lil background. My hubby was dx'ed with both MS and a brain tumor in Nov 07. The tumor is a mixed glioma near his brainstem. The doc put him on meds only problem was the anti seizure meds caused him to become suicidal. In June 08 he went in and had surgery to remove the tumor. We found out that it came back in July. At that time his doc also passed away and he just gave up until recently and havent seen a doc since July 08. Fast forward now. He also has constant headaches. He is currently having seizures frequently. His seizures sometimes cause him to have mini strokes that result in temporary facial paralysis, blindness/blurred vision and slurred speech. There are times he will have a seizure 'come out of it' but he doesn't remember short term (like our new apartment of 7 months or us even getting married 4 months ago) and sometimes he will talk like a kid would. Then he will have a seizure and hes back to normal again. There's one thing that has popped up very recently. He is experiencing I call 'walking blackouts'. These mainly only happen in the morning time. One min he will be ok the next a change in attitude its like hes a different person. Hes mean not physically but verbally. Very quick to anger. This is NOT my Tim!! But during these black outs hes completely 'normal' mentally. He has helped me get dressed and into my wheelchair (I'm a quadriplegic) get himself dressed, make tea etc but have no memory of it or his mood. I have looked online to see if the 'walking blackouts' are 'normal' with a tumor. We are trying to get him back on insurance so he can get back in with a doc. In the meantime are theses normal???
Thank you for any advice
Susan

Hi Susan,
I am very sorry about Tim's cancer and related health problems. Unfortunately, what he is going through is normal. What happens with people with brain cancer depends on where exactly the cancer is located.

A seizure can cause the same things that a stock cause. When I have one of mine, I cannot speak or use my right arm/hard. I have also had at least 2 "walking blackouts." One time, I drove 45 miles in 30 minutes from my house to my church. The only thing I remember is driving out of my drive way and sitting in my car in the church parking lot. I had to turn corners, stop at stop signs, change lanes, merge onto different highways.... But I could not remember any of it.

I do encourage you to take your husband to a neurologist. At the very least, they can get him on some type of anti-seizure meds. That would help him a lot.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim

Thank you so much for your quick reply last night. Its kinda comforting to know his walking blackouts are typical. Sure they are still frightening, but at least I know it is the tumor.

I'm sure as I continue to read here and live with this more questions will pop in my head. Thank you again..

Our prayers are with you
Susan
