In 1992, I was in the hospital recovering from the biopsy that found my Brain Cancer. One day a friend came to visit me. She brought with her a cassette tape for me to listen to. On it, she had recorded a most beautiful and touching song I have ever heard: Be Not Afraid. The tape was not mine and I gave it back to her when I left the hospital. Since it was not a commercially produced tape, I did not know who the singer was. I just know that his voice and the lyrics touched me. Literally every time I listened to the tape, I cried... not just tears in my eyes... big sobbing crying. For me, that song was like a prayer... or rather, God speaking to me and comforting me. I have been looking for this song since then and today, I found it.

I do not presume to think this song will touch every one the same way. I certainly understand if you are not particularly religious that this might not have as deep of an impact... and, honestly, that is OK. I just want to share this song with you, telling you first how it touched my soul.

The link it to a YouTube video that has nothing to do with the song. They just use the song on it.

I still cry... but not quite as hard Smile

Jim, this is the song that did it for me. My son made a beautiful video of his mom's life photos to go along with the song. We used it for her funeral after her 4 year battle with cancer.

As the song says, even in the Fall season of your life, you still open doors for other people...and she did.

Certain songs will always bring memories of some part of our life.

Thanks for sharing yours.

When one of my students passed away from cancer, this is the song that meant the most to us - all of us that knew and loved him.

Now that I'm in the third year of my battle, it means even more.
