Hi all, just wondering if anyone can give an opinion from experience on this. I've been experiencing floating stools for 10 weeks and radiating mid back pain for a about 7 weeks in addition to lower back pain for going on 6 months. I have had no changes in diet. I live in a country where doctors basically don't want to know and investigation is frowned upon lest it cost valuable resources unless you have insurance.

In light of this medical disinterest I went and got a non-contrast MRI conducted 2 weeks ago paying with cash. All came back normal. What I really need to know is simple: Is a non-contrast MRI to be trusted as conclusive in diagnosiing pancreatic cancer or should I consider paying for a contrast MRI or contrast CT and if so which one. As I said there is no interest being shown by my consultant to assist me in finding out what is wrong and as I don't have insurance I have little chance of finding out things unless I pay cash and investigate myself. Please give any opinions you have. I know there are other possible reasons for my symptoms but if this is pancreatic cancer I need to know and get ready for what is going to happen and get my affairs in order. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Juris:
I see no one has answered your post so I'll throw my 2 cents in.

How much google searching have you done to see if you can find an answer to your question?

I just did a quick one and found one link with some answers - but I would pound the keyboard on this and any other topic.

Unfortunately, I've only been around a patient who had contrast CT scans & PET scans........and they both picked up the cancer.

Based on your ending sentences, sounds like you want to go forward with a contrast test. Shop around or do a Google search to see if you can find any assistance or programs to help.
