Hi My Name is Nigel I was 40,
The Reason I actually joined this Forum was because there was a Chap from Ontario Canada, that had the same syptoms as I have & still do.
Well it actually started off that I thought was sciatica, went to see my GP.
He said not to give up work and the more I exerised my leg the more the pain would go away.
Within weeks I was in that much pain I had no Choice but to give up work, Even though I had only been in the job for a couple of Months.
Then in September 2007 I got My wife to take Me to see the The Local GP at the Hospital, only then I got admitted into Hospital.
When I went into Hospital I was there for 3 weeks, I had MRI scan & CAT scan, They picked up My tumour that was the Size of a tennis ball.
Not Many People Believe untill I show them a picture of my scan.
So they Moved me to Stoke to have an Operation, That was in October 2007, Where I nearly Died on the Operating Table.
I have also Been told They won't Operate again, Because of the High Risk of it Killing Me.
I was Diagnosed with a Grade 4 - glioblastoma multiforme which has endothelial cell proliferation and tumour necrosis.
And was Told I may only see the Year out, But hey look I am still here.
I Don't even think about My Tumour I live my life as I did before I had the Tumour, even though I am prone to epelepcy.
Then in August 2008 My Wife Left Me Because of My mood swings.
The Last Time I went back to The Hospital I was actually Told that My Tumour had Shrunk.
I have been Moved into My new Bungalow, and Very Happy & now 42.
But still have the Pain in My hip & Leg on the left hand side, Doe's this mean this is How we can Detect Brain Tumours? |

I am no expert on brain tumours but it sounds similar to what happened to my grandson.
he was very fit and went to the gym every day. he started with back pain and thought he had pulled a muscle so rested and took painkillers. After about 2 weeks it was no better and he went to his gp who said he would send him for physio.when that eventually happened he was complaining of pain down his leg which we thought was a trapped nerve or sciatica.the physio sent him back to gp who sent him straight to hospital where a scan showed brain tumour.he was operated on a week later and it was confirmed as grade 4 gbm.
He never had seizures or headaches or anything like that so it seems it is possible that sciatica type symptoms can mask a brain tumour _________________ live in hope

Sorry To Hear About your Grandson ennis
I must State That My Father Died 18 years ago This October With Skin Cancer.
Then 5 years This year My Eldest Sister Died with Cancer of the Womb, she had not long been Diagnosed when My Father Died.
But She didn't say Anything to My Mother as My Mom had just lost Her Husband of 36years.
Then 4 years ago My Eldest Brother Was Diagnosed With Testicular Cancer He is now in Remmission.
So Does this mean the Cancer is runniing through the family There Was seven of us, I am the youngest Lad out of the seven us!!
I have 3 Brothers & I did Have 3 Sisters?
Thanks Nigel |

A brain tumor is an abnormal growth of cells within the brain or inside the skull, which can be cancerous or non-cancerous. It is defined as any intracranial tumor created by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division, normally either in the brain itself (neurons, glial cells (astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, ependymal cells), lymphatic tissue, blood vessels), in the cranial nerves (myelin-producing Schwann cells), in the brain envelopes (meninges), skull, pituitary and pineal gland, or spread from cancers primarily located in other organs (metastatic tumors).
