Confused & Scared by the Internet (Re: Possible Symptoms

People are probably sick of reading forum posts like these, but as long as there are hypercondriacs like myself & influencing tools like the internet they will continue to appear!!

I'm a 28 year old male, that began smoking a few cigarettes a day on a daily basis at around the age of 14 years old I was also a pretty chronic user of marijuana. I stopped smoking everything at around 21 & began an intense course of fitness which lasted for around 4 years at which time my daughter was born. From there training became less regular & smoking (cigarettes only!) crept back although it was more binge smoking i.e. when drinking regularly.

Anyways around a month ago i noticed a strange kind of sore sensation under the lower part of my left rib. It only seems to become apparent when i'm bending forward or when my posture isn't particularly good whilst standing or seated & generally clears when I correct my posture. As soon as i noticed this discomfort i quit the cigarettes & have been eating particularly healthy ever since. I went to my doctor this past Monday & after he examined me he felt that it could possibly be a touch of pluresy although it would be unusual that it would last more than a few weeks. As a result he sent me for an x-ray to rule out anything more serious. My results wont be through until next Friday (7 days away) and I have since been doing plenty of research only to think I may now have Lung Cancer. Yes, I have lost weight recently (Maybe due to my new healthy diet), my adult acne has returned slightly, i do feel a little under the weather & my throat is a sore (My uvula is inflamed to look at!), and for quite some time my speech has become slightly stuttered at times(perhaps from such long term marijuana use) but most worrying is that every now & again when clearing my throat I notice a slight speck of pink in my otherwise clear sputum.

Now I'm really worried & keep having bad visions of my daughter not having me around, how my mother would react etc... Don't know if i'm over reacting at this stage but life at present is not enjoyable.

Please advise.....

Hi Doctor,
Most thinking individuals tend toward a bit of hypochondria now and again .... and most you know as well as I, it is reaaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyy
nothing!
If your chest xray is ok thats great.
If your symptoms continue for a couple more months, its time for a cat scan.
Nothing much else to do at this point if your chest xry turns out ok.
