my grandfather who has just turned 72, has just been diagnosed with melanoma. 4 years ago he had a spot removed off of his face, but never had follow ups and they thought they got it all. his oncologist told us yesterday that he had nodules in his lung, spots on liver, couple on a lower back vertebrae, adrenal gland, and spleen..and the melanoma was found in his colon from a colonoscopy. what stage would this be considered? and if anyone has had this with mets. if you could share any information with me my family and i would greatly appreciate it.

i am new to melanoma, and i dont know much about it. ive been spending the last 2 years taking care of my mom who has pancreatic cancer, and i could use all the help i can get.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi Heather, I am sorry to hear that your grandfather has such and advanced Melanoma! I think it would be a Stage IV since it has spread to other organs. I imagine that his only option will be some form of chemotherapy. I am not up to date on those options. Maybe some else will have that information for you. You should also ask his doctor what he/she would advise.

You and your grandfather are in my thoughts and prayers.
