My husband is not getting any SS benefits or disability, does any one know what i do after he passes,, can i get SS for my sons after he passes if so how do i go about this,,, thank you for your help, |

klgcrna, I am so sorry about your husband. I wish he had applied for SS disability. He might have qualified. If he qualified, so would your children. I know that for a fact because my son did.
I think your children will qualify for SS after your husband death although I am not as sure about that. I do know that you need to go to the SS office near you and ask them what it takes to qualify.
I hate that money issues are a concern in your life given all the rest that is happening with your husband.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

I will be sending all my thoughts and strength to you through this difficult time. I am so sorry that you and your sons are going though this.
PLEASE talk to the nurses at the hospital about your concerns or go straight to their Human Resources office and they can tell you exactly what you need to do to get your children and yourself signed up for SS benefits. I do not know this from personal experience but my best friends husband died suddenly 5 years ago leaving her with 3 small children. They will recieve benefits until they are 18 years old. I do know every hospital should have a HR officer who will come to your husbands room to tak to you if you will ask the nurses to get word to her/him.
I know this is going to be hard but let yourself grieve when it is all over. In the long run it will be so much easier on you to get it out now instead of waiting because of the children. Even if you have someone sit with your children one day so you can be alone to remember and just cry. In the end it will make you stronger and more prepared to help your children deal with their loss every day for a while. I do know that from personal experience(my oldest son was killed) and I learned the hard way that putting on a happy face every day for your children is not always best. They are smart little people and usually see right through that pasted on smile.
Best Wishes,
Gammi |

You should definitely be eligible for benefits for your small children til they are 18. Also, you may be eligible for SSI, which is another soc. sec. aid.
I don't know if you are going to be eligible for survivorship soc. sec. benefits, though, as I was told that I will not be eligible until I reach the age of 60, so I will be without any income other than my 16 year old sons benefits.
Go to your local soc. sec. office immediately and talk with a rep.
I am sorry to hear about your husband.
My husband is in late stages of colon cancer, with mets to the liver, has about 8 months, maybe more, maybe less. |

What has this to do with the financial problems? Sadly God does generally help much in this field of difficulty. |
