hi everyone, my dad had a large tumor and even a small part of his brain removed, after the first day of sleeping, when he is awake, he is calling the dr's and nurses names, swearing, arguing, screaming for them to get out of his room, had to be restrained. I was told this behavior (which is the total opposite of him) can last for 2 weeks, or it can stay. it is not the meds, it is how this turned out as so far.
anyone else have this experience post op?
thanks and god bless

Oh tawny, I am so sorry that your father's personality seems to have changed. Even if it is just a temporary thing, it must be hard on you and your family to see him so different from "normal". As you know, the specific way brain cancer affects one person is different from another depending on what part of the brain was involved in the tumor, surgery, and other treatments. If the personality changes are caused by swelling, yes, he should get better. However, no one can know for sure. Keep working with his medical team to figure out the best way to deal with these changes.
You and your father are still in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

thank you jim......i forgot he was on a morphine drip after surgery, and it's still in his system......after post surgery, he was having horrible hallucinations and still are, he thinks his pills are poison, etc.'
at his age, i keep wondering if him and i made the right decision, cause this is pure h#ll, for him and myself.
i counted 45 staples, is that mean a big cut or the usual incision, and if you would know, how are they removed, i'm so new to this, i've hit an all time low as of now.
sincerely,
