Well there you have it, a one sided sales pitch on robotic assisted radical prostatectomy. This is about as informative and objective as a lot of the HiFU posts we get here. Statements like the "best", "easiest" "most certain" "fastest and finest" are just sales pitch that say nothing meaningful to guide one in decision making.

To say that its success rate is 80% is either lying or redefining what success means because, no such figure can truthfully be given for an absolute cure of Prostate cancer or even for a presurgical level of erectile functioning.

Finally, This statement is ridiculous " if all of the cancer is removed during surgery, you are probably cured ". Clearly IF ALL the cancer is removed you ARE cured. The operative words however are the words "IF" and "ALL".

Little words that make all the difference with every treatment.

I think this was just a run of the mill spam that someone like pbj11 or brainman (administrators) edited. The spammy part was the link. It could have had nothing to do with robotic surgery. A lot of times these messages will be some chunk of text--about the topic covered in the forum--and then there will be some spam link inserted that may not even relate to the text.

We have choices when coming across these messages--delete the entire message, edit it, ban the user, or some combination. In this case the administrator decided the only violation was the inclusion of a hyperlink. As a moderator, I can only edit or delete, but when I come across repeat or egregious offenders, like I did earlier this week, I ask an administrator to ban the user, so at least they can't keep going with the same user name and IP address.

I don't see any problem in leaving a defanged message like this--after all, in some cases the message may be a sincere posting, it's just that the author was unaware of policy.

I first noticed the message by John's "xx" note, and I saw that it had already been edited by an administrator.

When you see spam, or any other policy violation, feel free to private message me. If I don't respond, administrators Brainman or PBJ11 should be contacted.

the post certainly was cheerleader, booster stuff but i got the first check up at 3 mos. after robotic surgery. psa was .02. for an operation that took a whole organ out me, it was as close to a breeze as i could ever expected.
i would tell anyone facing p cancer and considering surgery about my take. it is a wonder of a procedure and i am glad that i went that way rather than an open operation. scopes rule just ask my knees!
