Hi All,
We just got my mom's latest CT scan results... Her cancer has grown. Sad Her original spot in her upper left lobe and some lymph nodes near her aortic arch have grown 1 cm since her last scans in March. She will be starting Alimta probably next week. She will get two rounds of Alimta and then more scans to see if it is working or not. These were not the results we were looking for. Cancer is sooooo unfair and unforgiving!!!!!

Kristi

(((Kristi)))),

You and your Mom didn't get much of a breather, did you? I'm so sorry to hear of this progression and hope she does well with the Alimta regimen. It can be very successful for some people without a lot of side effects. Just keep a close eye on her, but I know you do that already.

Yup -- cancer sucks eggs -- big time. Crying or Very sad

Hang in there. Here's that darn roller coaster again. Grrrrr.

Lots of hugs,
PBJ

Thanks everyone!

Mom will get Alimta once every three weeks starting on Wed., July 8th. The NP told us that Mom could be on this for four to six months. The onc is going to do a scan after two rounds.

Am I scared? Yes! Am I panicking? No, not yet. I specifically asked the onc if there were other things to try if Alimta did not work and he told me Yes. That does not panic me. It is scary knowing that the damn cancer is growing again. Once again we have to hold our breath to see if this works or not.

I know how it feels since I was also taking alimpta and now I am off since it did not help. I am going to get a second opinion next week in NY to see what options are now available. The fight continues for me but I am really tired of this long war.
