Ok sunshine- start at the beginning....

At 10 you had a tumor in your leg... what did they do? say it was? etc.

Now they say Leukemia, how did you find out? symtoms etc.... what have they said to do now? Treatment etc.

All of these questions will help you get the advice you need.

Hi sunshine. Acute Myelogenous Leukemia Sad is a very dangerous for of cancer because it reduces your body's ability to fight off infections. There are several option for treatment with chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant being the main ones.

Do everything you can to boost your immune system:

  • Adequate rest
  • Balanced nutrition
  • Complementary nutritional supplements such as vitamins
  • Wash your hand often (be OCD about this)
  • Avoid exposure to sick people
  • Do not ignore any sign that you might have an infection

What questions do you have from the booklet they gave to you. We will try to help you to understand.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

sunsine, I can see that you are very worried about dying. I do not know when or how you will die; no one knows that about you or about themselves. I can tell you that my father lived with ALL (sister cancer to and just as deadly as AML) for several years. Nevertheless, he did die of an opportunistic infection.

What matters is not when or if you are going to die. What matters is what are you going to do with whatever time you still have left. What are the things you would still like to do? Where would you like to go? Who would you like to see or talk to or re-connect with? Make a list and then every day work toward achieving those goals. I know... easier said that done. But we all have the choice of spending our lives as if we are dyeing or spending them as if we are living.

I am not trying to avoid answering your question more directly; I just do not have an answer.

You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
