Hello, my father who is 84 was diagnosed with primary liver cancer back in March where he got a tube train to the London hospital for the diagnosis. After waiting 6 weeks and eventually getting funding for the biological drug, sorenifeb, he spent 3 weeks on the drug which literally tore him to pieces and he was unable to walk any further than about 5 steps. After collapsing at home due to being so weak, he was taken to hospital. Now, a month later, he is unable to get out of bed without help and his legs are terribly swollen. He has now been taken off sorenifeb and has been gaining strength and alertness. I wonder if anyone can tell me if the drug has caused him to deteriorate so quickly or whether it's the disease taking its toll. Also, I cannot seem to get a doctor to give me any idea of how long I have. Would it be reasonable to assume within 6 months? He is not receiving palliative care yet and now to make matters worse, I am told I have to find a dual care nursing home (part residential and part nursing) which will be financed from his assets. I am at desperation point as to know what to do in his best interests. Has anyone been through a similar experience?
