Hi,
its been a long 3 weeks since we found out my husband has a mass on his lung and smaller noduals and we are still waiting to find out.
The doctor said my husband needed a biopsy and sent him to the hospital because the doctor did not want to wait weeks for my husband to see the lung specialist, my husband sat at the hospital for 5 hours they put him on oxygen because his oxygen was low, he also has emphysema they let him wait 5 hours and then told him they could not do anything because they do not know enough about his medical history and that my husband would have to see a lung specialist, i just don't know why the dr would send him to the hospital.
we rang the lung specialist and was told it would be a 6 week wait so my husband got his dr to ring, and he managed to get him in sooner he has to see the specialist this monday.
A few nights ago my husband could hardly breathe i think he picked up a bug while waiting at the hospital, i had to call the ambulance i told them i think he needs oxygen but they wouldn't listen but as soon as they got him in the ambulance they gave him oxygen, he was left in the emergency waiting room for over 4 hours and told he could be waiting all night so he came home...
its been a long 3 weeks and i'm hoping the lung specialist can tell us something on monday because we just can't go on waiting like this, it feels like we can't get any help or any answers,
i will keep you updated as soon as i know anything

xxx shaz

Shazzie,

I'm sorry the wait if turning into more of a nightmare for you. I hope you get some answers soon so he can receive treatment if needed.

God bless,
PBJ

Shazzie; I just posted in your earlier topic. I just edited it to say I was moving it here too. Below is what I had posted. Sometimes we have to be a little more assertive. Not all the time.

Hi Shazzie; I am not one to speak up, loudly, very often. I relate to your saying how your husband did not get the tests after 5 hours of waiting and then told to see Pulmonary dr. I want to tell you that if you are reasonable about it, it is okay to speak up sometimes and be heard. They were really right probably.

We went to my husband’s pulmonary appointment to find out about the results of his needle biopsy. We knew it was back and waited all weekend for this Monday appointment. Welllll, we arrived and the girl said he had no appointment. My husband, being like many men, was accepting that answer and leaving. NOT ME! I spoke up so everyone could hear me and started with “you are telling me that husband DOES NOT have an appointment, and we cannot see him. This is not acceptable, my husband needs to find out if he has cancer and we waited all weekend for this_ _ _ _”. By the time I was done ‘speaking up’ the receptionist said we could see a PA but the doctor was not in. We saw the doctor when we were called back. They told us he was not even there but he was. I blame the girls up front for all of this. They were switching systems and getting on a electronic system, but nothing was a good reason. We had the appointment card at home and we were right. This is my doctor and my husband’s and we both like this group. Just a bad deal.

Would not have written so much but just want everyone to realize that cancer ‘waiting’ is bad enough. Speak up if justified. Some things do take time. I was NOT going to wait 2 weeks for another appointment.

Shazzie; It would have been normal to see the Pulmonary Dr first if your husband’s emphysema is bad enough. My husband had many delays and we were getting drained waiting. The waiting is awful. I have severe COPD and am aware of some of the problems.

I sure hope you are finding answers since you last posted. I don’t get here often and just wanted to let you know someone else is thinking of you and praying for you

BTW, sometimes I ask if I can wait in an area where there are less people. We try to keep me out of ER if possible. Urgent care had an outer area where I was able to wait and they came and called me. Your husband needs, as often as possible, to not be exposed to sick people. Let them know when you sign in that he is having problems breathing. I hope things turn around for you soon and start moving faster. Out journey with my husband was dragging on for months. September to January to tell him it was for sure cancer.
