I'm a new user, and I'm looking for other Nasopharyngeal Cancer survivors. I've completed 33 radiation sessions, one cyberknife and 5 (missed one due to low blood count) chemo treatments. Very little info on what to expect next.

Leo - as moderator of this forum, can you please remove this scam. As a cancer survivor I take great exception to people who promulgate unproven remedies for cancer.Thank you.

Absolutely. I am having more scammers showing up as this forum gets more well-known. But I will get to each and every post that disrespects our rules.

Christmas, if you finished your prescribed treatments your doctor will probably follow up on your progress from now on. Is this what he/she told you ?

regards,
Leo

Are you experiencing any side effects from your treatment? My last chemo was in March 2004. I'm just now gradually learning about side effects of my treatment. I know that effects are not the same for everyone, but it's still nice to know what to look out for. For example, it's only after my last check up that thyroid function may be a problem. I was never warned beforehand. I know about the loss of salivary glands and taste buds. But what about congested ears? Dry, sticky eyes? Any tricks to dealing with those discomforts?

I wasn't told how damaged my thyriod could be.

Although, the Doctor told me most patients usually have problems with the thyroid (and he didn't go into details) 2 years after the treatment.

However, I noticed changes and had a low thyroid within 6 months of the treatment.

It has taken me 2 years to get the thyroid stabilized. And only, since the Doctors didn't want to give me enough of medication until now, within this last month.

Ps.

The blockages are normal in Radiation Treatment, said the ENT Doctor at Stanford Hospital.

Sure...

The whole face and body is drier now.

It is good to eat Omega 3 (fish oil or flax seed oil, as example) to help give your body some moisture and to drink as much water as you can.
