A friend of mine was in a carcrash and shes now told me she needs brain surgery as theres a bit of swelling. When i asked her like the dis -advatages of having this done she said her children if she has any cud have birth defects and also die at a younger age and memory loss. When i ask her how this can cause birth defects she couldnt answer. Can someone please tell me how brain surgery causes your chances of a having a baby with a defect much higher. Oh and what would cause you to die at a younger age.

jdizon, I am so sorry about your friends car accident and brain injury. However, this is a forum for people with cancer and not external trauma to the brain. You might want to Google "brain injury support groups".

I have no clue how brain surgery could cause birth defects. It is possible that the meds she will receive could cause this to be a problem. As with most brain issues, it is also possible that her life could be shortened or that she might have memory problems and many other brain related issues.

Good luck with your search for more on target information. Your friend has a good friend in you for taking the time to look for info Wink
