Hi all, never thought I would be here. I'm a male, 60. About 8 weeks ago I went to the emergency room Emory Hospital/Atlanta with severe abdominal/back pain, as well as chest pain, and extremely dark urine. It was later revealed that I had had a heart attack and a pet scan and ct scan were done, the pet showed 40% blockage in 3 arteries and the ct scan showed pancreatic cancer.
I don't know how extensive it is as we never got that far. the doctors wanted to work on removing the heart blockage before confronting the cancer and commented that I would need family and friends around during this time. I didn't have any family and only a few friends in Atlanta. I checked out out against medical advice and moved 'home' to Birmingham (btw good hospital city). I figured if I were going in for treatment I would be better off here given the many friends and 2 daughters within 50 miles. I have decided to forgo treatment, for a number of reasons, mostly personal. I realize the disease shows a number of faces, is very aggressive, and different for each individual, but what's ahead? I have abdominal/lower back pain (upper and lower) that is moderate most of the time, dark urine, little appetite and diarrhea. Right now I feel ok most of the time but I know this will not always be the case. Any idea of what's in store? I'm kind of freaked given what I have read. thanks, any comments would helpful. |

hi Rustyford
You must be a Rusty Wallace fan??
Rusty you really need to know if it is operable or not, cause if it is you have a shot of beatng it!! They had to tell something from the cat scan.
And cant you get emergency medicade, I know you can in NY, I would think Georgia would have something similiar.
I know its yor desicion for sure, I just hope you know abt the question regarding surgery, cause I know of someone personally whose coming up on 5 yrs with surgery. Please talk it over witrh your daughters.
with the best of intentions,
