:crty: Don't know what to think. Have stayed with relative for 5 days in icu.
She seems not to be doing well. THe liquid coming out is still pink to red. THey gave two units of blood yesterday.
She has a lump of air on left side.
Surgeon says he got all the cancer out of left lobe about two to three inches in diameter and took the top of left lobe.
Her blood pressure stayed low but after transfusion it has done better.
Am worried how long do people usually stay in icu?
She hasn't eaten since surgery.
Any advice or ideas?

Talked to a nurse giving her care, told her how glad I was doc said cancer had not spread that he took top of one of the left lobs and had got all the caner. Told her I had been reading on internet an thought she would at least have five more years, she said niceI idea but not with her prognosis?
How long do people ususally stay in icu after surgery.
LIttle more info, she has a habit of liking alchohol and doc told me to bring bourbin in for her to have.

SHe has also got a large lump of air under her chest..It just started two days after surgery how long do they last.

My husband was in the ICU for 5 days following a back surgery for infection and removal of his left lower lung for cancer. He got a total of 12 units of blood. His appetite in the ICU was very poor. He did not feel like eating. He did have 2 chest tubes in his left side for about 2-3 days and were draining a significant amount of blood. I reall don't know what the air in her chest could be. Maybe it is something that will be reabsorbed. If the doctor took the lobe out and hopefully got all the cancer out her prognosis should be very good and perhaps will not have anymore problems with lung cancer. Hope her recovery continues to go well.
