|
|
I would be very interested to hear from any late stage (3 or 4) uterine cancer suvivors. I was dx with uterine cancer (adenocarcinoma of the endometrium) in april 2003. The cancer was mostly in my uterus, but 1 of 13 lymph nodes tested positive. (thus, the IIIC) I had a radical hyst., radiation and chemo. Im 47 years old and in 1 year remission. They say the prognosis is 50/50 for surviving 5 years.
It would be very helpful to hear from any survivors of this disease, or if you are even going thru treatment, Id like to hear your story, if you wouldn't mind sharing.
Hope to hear from you. Thanks,

Judi,
Hi. I am only at the beginning of the road. I just had a hysterectomy for fibroids. (They took cervix, ovaries and tubes as a preventative measure) The post surgical biopsy showed a uetrine sarcoma. This was sent to John Hopkins for a second opinion. I am still awating results. I am sorry that I do not have much to offer except I am 45 and am looking for the same information you are. I know my doctors will be a great source of information once we get further along, but I am starved for resorces now. It does not seem as thought there is a tremendous amount of information out there regarding uterine cancer, specifically a sarcoma. Good luck to you and I will share whatever I come across.

| My sister was diagnosed with papilary serous adenocarcinoma uterine cancer that had advanced to stage 4 by time of diagnosis. The cancer had spread outside the uterus and was found from the diaphram to the rectum at time of debulking surgery. She had a complete hyst including removal of ovaries. There were 2 positive lymphs in the groin and cancer cells that were left behind on the diaphram after surgery. 10 days post op she had considerable build up of cancerous ascities in the peritenial cavity as well. (forgive my poor spelling!) She immediately began 6 rounds of carboplatin/pacitaxel combination chemotherapy. Her CA125 level at time of surgery was 1480 (normal is considered 30 or lower). She had a 100% response to chemo and was declared in remission in January of this year. She has since had 3 clean cat scans and her CA 125 level remains around 5-7. Stage 4 cancer of this type is very deadly but remember, someone, somewhere, has been cured of every type and stage of cancer there is!! There's no reason to believe that it can't be you!!! |
