Hair Loss Question

My oncologist just switched my chemo to Docetaxel. Anyone know how long it takes before I notice hair loss?

Hi Bill;
I did not have the treatment so I'm not sure the time line. You said you changed treatments, what was it before? My first treatments I think were pretty strong with Carboplatin and Docetaxel, hair loss began in about 2-3 weeks, I waited to about the 5th week to have it cut when my son who is in the Navy could get our hair cuts together. I had it cut pretty short but not short enough, I found that even the short stubble would fall out all over including into my drinks and food so I had it cut again. But I did need time time to get used to it. I'm on Alimta now, but my hair growth is pretty bad, it is kinda like crazy baby hair. Also it is taking along time to fill in, I still have a near bald spot that is not a located in the family balding location. I guess my hair wont be back until I stop taking treatments and that may never happen. But the trade out is I am alive and doing well.
