Hello everybody,
My father, age 61 years old, was diagnosted with prostate cancer. The doctors come to this conclusion after they had the result of PSA ( prostate specific antigen), which was 61.57, the normal value for his age is 6. The other blood test results are also very big: VSH- 97, the normal value is max. 10, fibrinogen- 592.60, the normal value max. 350, and reactiv protein C- 154.98, the normal value max.5.
An other thing which brings them to this conclusion, was the RMN picture( nuclear magnetic resonance), where looks like in the prostate there is a ADK ( adeno- carcinom).
The specialist, though, couldn't take the biopsie from the prostate, because he discouvered by the clinical exam, there is a big infection surround the prostate and was very risky to do the biopsie till the infection is not gone. So they said, 90% is prostate cancer, but they can't tell for sure which stage till they don't take the biopsie. Now, my father has a tratament with antibiotic for 21 days, after that we have to wait for 7 days, and repeat all the tests, and if the infection is gone, they make the biopsie.
So, if somebody has informations about this kind of cancer, methods of diagnose, trataments, or cliniqs, please reply or contact me.
Thank you, Monica.

Monica, this is the forum for you. There are many of us experienced PCa recipients on here.

Your father's PSA level does indicate high probability of PCa. The infection, if in the prostate, may also be causing some of the PSA elevation. I agree with the antibiotics to deal with the infection first.

Pick up a copy of Patrick Walsh's book "Surviing Prostate Cancer" on Amazon.com or elsewhere. I wished I had read it before being diagnozed in June.

Good news is there are many treatments for your father today. He just needs a good diagnosis and he needs to be aggressive with it.

Good luck and let us know when you hear more.
