I have sent a message to the administrators and other moderators that I do not wish to moderate this board any longer.
I have simply reached a point where enough is enough, and there is nothing that says this is something I have to do. I was approached one day by an administrator and I agreed to take it on. And now I would like to relinquish the job.
I may or may not stick around as a member, but I will say this:
I wish each one of you -- every single one, even if we don't always agree or get along -- the best of health. No one deserves cancer. If you're fighting prostate cancer, I sincerely hope you beat it. I hope I beat it, too.

Replicant,
Your contribution as a moderator in this forum is invaluable to those here living with prostate cancer, either themselves or in the family. You have done a great job here and I always appreciate your knowledge and input. Having moderated for almost two years, I have learned it is very difficult to keep a group together and in full support of each other. As moderators we can only facillitate the opportunity to do so.
Job well done!
Tony

Dear Replicant,
I started reading from this site almost 2 years ago when my husband was dx'd. Your wisdom and compassion have been evident throughout with your posts. Your job as moderator is difficult, but you have done an excellent job. I hope you will reconsider. Though we've never met, and I've been more of a silent observer throughout my time here - I'd feel the loss of a shining light in our battle with this disease. Whatever you decide, thank you for all that you've done to help educate and comfort. _________________ Dx: Dec 2007 PSA 15.8 Age 51

Replicant - you've done a magnificient job as Moderatior. I found the board in June after I was DXed and it has been a constant source of support. Your thoughtfulness and insight has eased my situation and you made available a lot of articles and research information I might not have found. I really appreciate it.
I do hope you will reconsider as your service has been invaluable to most of us on here. _________________ Age 58

My friend,
You have been a comfort and a rich source of information at the stage that my PSA started up 4 years after surgery. Your even hand and steady demeanor have been an asset that has helped define this board. As a forum administrator myself, I empathize with your feelings, especially of late.
Hopefully you will reconsider and stay on, if not please at least remain as a poster. Your service and stellar, objectivity and attention to facts are much needed here, now more than ever!
Without you, the negative aspects will dominate the board and many of us would likely drift away as well.

This site is wonderful and primarily because you and a few others like you, have put so much into the site. Your attitude, knowledge, spirit and inspiration has touched many people.
Given the way the prostate Forum has developed over the past few months, I'm not surprised that you have decided to step down as Moderator. It is hard enough for any of us to cope with all the aspects of our Cancers, but you found the time to research well, post wisely and moderate as well.....and then had to deal with the recent postings.
I too thought of unsubscribing, but I thought, hold on, I do have, from time to time, something positive to contribute, so I'll lurk here until the dust settles <something had to give>.
I hope you'll reconsider withdrawing from the site. It is our loss and your contribution has been immense. I for one value your contribution and presence. _________________ Marathon Man

Replicant. I've only been 'here' for a few weeks but I have been consistently impressed by your balanced and helpful advice & comments.
Every 'job' has its good days and not-so-good days and maybe, hopefully, you will feel that you can continue to moderate this board.
Whatever you decide I wish you all the best. Jeremy |

Replicant,
You are such a calming voice to those who find this forum when they are confused and terrified. Anyone can be a forum moderator but it takes a special person to put people at ease as you have done. It would be a shame to see you go .

Thanks for all the kind statements. I do appreciate them. Nonetheless, I need to step away from this, for at least a while. You can expect to see gdudak, PBJ11, and other moderators and administrators in here in the interim. They're fine folks. They have my complete confidence. Fresh eyes can only help.
I'll be stopping by, just not as much, and I will not be actively moderating. _________________ Replicant

Replicant,
I'm so very sorry that you've had to pull away from moderating this forum.
You were so much help to my Hubby and I, your wisdom, experience and comfort has been very much appreciated throughout this illness.
I hope that it's only temporary but you must do what's best for you.
Take care of yourself and I wish you all the best in the future.
Hoping you'll return to posting and/or moderating in the near future.
Best wishes, as always,
Jean |

Hi Replicant,
Many others have said it so well. Yet, I can understand your need to leave, at least for a change and some rest. Please don't feel guilty about leaving. You have earned a break and the relief will do you good. Take some time to smell the roses or whatever passes for roses in your neck of the woods. Please also check up on us now and then. We will look forward to your caring guidance.
All the best to you whatever you undertake now. You have helped much more than you can know. Even though I am somewhat new, I feel like one of your flock. So rest and relax good shepherd. The flock will survive and be thankful that we had you for a while.
