Well, I'm only 24..

Cancer (of any kind) does not run in my family, nor am I a smoker. I wont say I've never smoked, but the occasional smoke here or there with friends, or if I was having a drink (which I also don't drink often). 24 year old female, pretty good health, don't fill my body up with junk food or anything, like to be germ free ..blah blah you get the picture..okay enough with that...lol

I was told today after 2 months of chest pains the I have Stage 3 Lung Cancer. I don't know much more than that right now, not till more tests are done. It is in my lymph nods and with me getting dizzy spells and occasional blurryness in my left eye, we think it is rapidly spreading and may possibly be nearing/in the brain. I wont find out more until they run more tests tomorrow.

My DRs are stumped since there is no history of it in my family, and with it being stage 3 (which was explained if I had 25+ years of smoking 3 packs of cigs a day or 30 years of second hand smoke then this might be something they would expect) I'm just confused. I'm not really upset that much. Life is what it is. I know i'll be okay, I'm just a bit confused. Not really looking for much on here I guess, just putting it out there more cause I like to talk..lol. Not sure i've fully come to terms with the stiuation as of just, but it's nice to know I'm not completely alone out there.

I guess that was all, just an introduction.. thanks for listening to me rant. lol

Hi JustApril,

I'm not even sure where to begin with this post. It's shocking, as you've already heard from the doctors. I'm so sorry about this diagnosis. We will give you plenty of support and a place to vent any and all feelings. I have know other 20-somethings with lung cancer, but they are few.

Most lung cancer is found in stages III or IV because it is a silent cancer and doesn't show many symptoms until its progressed more. This sucks eggs. I'm angry for you!!! How many actual lung tumors have they detected? Have they done an actual biopsy?

You seem to have a great head on your shoulders and sound very wise for one so young.

Please let us know what the tests show. We'll be here for you.

I'm so very sorry. Have a lot of hope and we'll pray for you.

Hugs,
PBJ

Aww, Well thank you very much. Smile

Not sure how many they have found, and wont know till more tests are done. I had my biopsy done on Wed of LAST WEEK, and I just got the results yesterday, they told me they just thought it was goig to be lymphoma, lung cancer hadn't even been expressed as a concern. I'm guessing today when they run the additional tests to see how/where it's speading I should know a little more about everything. Too be honest I don't know much at all about it all.. lol I was prepared for lymphoma.. not lung Cancer...

As for being so "wise" I've dealth with a lot, and grew up fast. Smile I had back surgery when I was 18, Dr. wasn't sure how someone my age had a messed up back @ 18 either. lmao. Apparently I'm just one for the books *shrugs* Again though, lif is what it is. lol.

Thank you so much for the reply though, it really is nice to know I'm not completely out in left field alone and some people can understand it. lol Smile
