Hi, this is my first time on here, so bare with me. I just need some answers please!! I am having a hard time looking up info on the internet about this, so here's what I got.. My grandfather is 83, a diabetic and he has 1 kidney left that who knows how well its working. They told him last week that they found a baseball size mass on his liver and also a spot on his lung. Can someone please tell me if this is/could be liver cancer and how long does he have? I appreciate any help!!

God Bless.

Hi apens82. I am sorry about your grandfather's health concerns. Obviously, those masses could be cancerous. They could also be something else. The only way to know for sure is to have a biopsy done. His prognosis will depend on the type and stage... if it is cancer. Keep us informed.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. Last week my dad got word on his cancer. Lung, brain and kidney. A biopsy was conducted and when we got the reading this gave us answers and we were now able to know what we are dealing with.

I joined this forum yesterday and have already found a great deal of comfort just knowing there are others who understand - really understand.

My prayers are with you and your family. I have already learned (we learn quickly when the C word crops up) to be as fully present with my dad as possible.

I was just listening to my mom expressing her fears. The most loving thing I can do is listen and just be here for her.

Not always easy in that there are so many emotions that crop up during all of this.

My best

The waiting for "an answer" is most difficult. Once we were told of my dad's condition it took much of the stress away. At least we now know what is what.

My dad's radiation treatments are going very well. So far (today is day 3) he is doing really good. No pain, no discomfort, no depression he says.

My mother is finally expressing her fear. She does not do it around my dad so when he is out of earshot she will cry and simply need a shoulder to cry on.

I have big shoulders these days. And wet ones.

I will keep you in my prayers. It's amazing the power of prayer regardless of one's religious or spiritual leanings.
