Hello,

I apologize for this possibly very stupid-sounding question, but I would really like feedback from those here. (I know I can also ask a neurosurgeon, etc).

Is there *any* kind of brain biopsy that can be done on an outpatient basis, where one could drive oneself there, and then afterwards - and be home the same day?

Again, I apologize for how clueless this sounds.

Melbo,

I don't think this could be done as an outpatient. The procedure is just too complex and there are risks involved, so you would need a day or two at the hospital...

I had a biopsy in 02 and it was no joke. A nurse gave me morphine before the surgery but she gave it too early and when they put the metal brace on my head it felt like hell as they screwed the bolts into my head and I just wanted to die! Is it possible to be an outpatient and still go home the same day? probably not. For me I don't remember but I doubt I could go home the same day after they stuck a needle into my head.

I had a biopsy a couple of days before they removed my tumor and there was no way I could have gone home. I was in ICU and they wouldn't even let me get up to go to the bathroom. But I guess mine needed a craniotomy, so maybe a needle procedure would be quicker.
