If we were to go to another Dr for a 2nd opinion, will the first Dr know this? We received a nice booklet with tons of information in it and there was an article encouraging second opinions. My mom is afraid doing so will upset her current drs and is leary to do so. I told her I dont think the drs themselves would necessarily know shes done so since most of the reports (MRI's, Xray's, etc) will come from radiology records instead of the dr office itself...

Do most people seek the 2nd opinion? Do they do it when theyre 1st dx, when treatment seems difficult, when???

I would think that a good doctor, who is confident in his diagnosis and treatment recommendations, would not have any problems with a person seeking a second opinion.

If he would, then I would not have confidence in that doctor.
