My husband finished 43 external beam radiation treatments two months ago. He seems to have gotten over many of his side effects from the radiation but is disappointed because he is still fatigued.

I was thinking that I read it may take months to recover after radiation. Can anyone comment on this.

Thanks,
Judy

I had a LOT of fatigue with radiation. Mine ended in May, but I'm still getting over many of the side effects, fatigue being one of them. Every month gets better. I played 3 games of good racquetball tonight and I'm bushed. I used to play 5-6 games before I was through.

It DOES get better.....

Thanks for answering mkane09. It helps for my husband to hear that from someone other than his wife.

Good going on having the pep to play racquetball. We go to Texas for the winter in a few months and I know he is anxious to know that he can still play tennis.

Did he excercise before and during radiation?
I started an excercise program about 3 months before treatment and had absolutely no fatigue whatsoever.

John,
He played tennis and rode his bike most days for the three-four months before treatment and then during treatment didn't do strenuous exercise but usually walked.

He walks most days now which is 2 months after treatment ended.
